At Bamrec, we have many priorities to uphold; from preparing upcoming projects, to ensuring the smooth-sailing of current programs, there is always something new for us to work on. However, between the long meetings and brainstorm sessions, there is one goal that we have worked towards since the day Bamrec started: leaving a positive impact. Whether it is a parent who has been with us since 2017, an individual who attended one event, or even someone who only knows about us by word of mouth, we strive to ensure Bamrec leaves a lasting impression on all those who know us.

Our impact on the community comes in two parts: the environment we control, and the attitudes we influence. When planning for events, we focus on both child-to-instructor and parent-to-instructor relationships. Working in childcare, our actions have an effect on children long after we close up for the day; by promoting a comfortable and growth-oriented atmosphere, we instill in children values that they will carry for the rest of their lives.

However, our reach goes much further than the camps we host. Bamrec’s goal is to plant the seeds that will lead to growth in our communities, by investing our time to make voices heard and cultivate a proactive spirit. Voicing our support for the Black Lives Matter movement, we hoped to be an example for the community and stand up for a cause we believe in. Launching the Bamrec Business Internship in the summer of 2019, we provided valuable skills to Muslim teens that teach them networking and entrepreneurship. Moreover, donating to the Back-to-School Backpack Project allowed us to give back to the community while simultaeneously connecting with other Muslim organizations in the area.

So from now on, whenever Bamrec hosts a new event or activity, you can be sure of one thing: everything we do is with the community in mind.
